This is a NON-Spoiler review for The Founder
Plot Summary: "The story of Ray Kroc, a salesman who turned two brothers' fast food eatery, McDonald's, into one of the biggest restaurant businesses in the world."
The thing you should know up front about this movie is to not think that it's intense like the trailer. That trailer makes it look Steve Jobs with everyone yelling at each other in offices. It's not that. I didn't find this movie to be all that great. The director John Lee Hancock made a movie I LOVE called Saving Mr. Banks. This movie is a lot like Saving Mr. Banks in terms of style. The music has the EXACT same style. I really like the style of the scores in both movies but in The Founder it's there WAY too much. There are barely ANY scenes where the score isn't shoved in your face.
The acting overall is pretty good. Michael Keaton does a great job. Nick Offerman (who may know as Ron Swanson) does really really great here. I am a big fan of Parks and Rec and I was worried that all I'd be able to see is Ron Swanson. Nick Offerman did a great job and after just a little bit Ron Swanson began to fade away. I was really glad to see that happen for Nick Offerman. Laura Dern is in this movie and she plays Michael Keaton's wife. She is really really boring. I don't understand AT ALL why a big actress like Laura Dern had to play this completely boring character. I relate it to Rachel McAdams in Doctor Strange. There are young and unknown actresses dying to do anything in movies and they give insignificant supporting roles to people like Laura Dern and Rachel McAdams and I don't understand why.
Overall I didn't enjoy The Founder all that much. This could have seriously just been a documentary. The beginning of the movie seeing how drive-thrus were designed was the most interesting part. But once Michael Keaton's character steps in and takes over, everything interesting begins to fade away. My mind started to drift off in a lot of scenes. But I will say that The Founder does change your perspective on how drive-thrus work but after a while it just became boring. I think that if you were particularly wanting to see The Founder then I think you should check it out but anybody else I suggest waiting for it to come out on Blu-Ray or iTunes. The grade for The Founder is a C+
