I've never been a huge fan of Ben Affleck. I've actually never seen a movie he's directed. I really liked him as Batman and I'm excited to see more of his Batman. I'm a fan of Anna Kendrick and JK Simmons. And when I saw this trailer, I thought it looked like Ben Affleck became a character from the show The Blacklist. It's not hard on the R rating. The violence isn't very graphic and the strong language isn't frequent.

I enjoyed The Accountant. I thought it was an interesting and non-cliche story for an action film. I don't think it's action-packed. The movie takes its time to develop Christian Wolff - Ben Affleck's character. I was instantly interested in Christian Wolff. There's a lot of mystery in that character. It felt a little bit like if someone was investigating Bruce Wayne. The beginning feels like a drama movie about an accountant. But you know that this is an action movie so you just sit there knowing that he's dangerous and you're slowly getting more and more scared and waiting for him to burst out. And when he does, he's awesome. I've heard this character described as a mix of Jason Bourne and Will Hunting. The acting was great. Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick, JK Simmons, John Lithgow all did great. I think the plot and screenplay were well made. Christian Wolff's obsession disorder makes for a lot of Marvel type humor which I didn't expect. The trailer didn't show too much. There's a twist I did not see coming.

Let me get my complaints out of the way. There were a couple scenes where the acting was a bit rough. I would have liked for it to be a bit darker. I like that the movie takes time for you anticipate the action but it takes a bit too much time in my opinion. A ton of the movie is scenes where it's people investigating the accountant and it's telling the audience "Hey he's dangerous" and then another again "Hey he's dangerous" and this happens a lot, which takes away from the fun. There's an exposition scene later in the movie with JK Simmons character that I thought dragged on for way too long. And now my final complaint. My favorite action protagonist is Indiana Jones. There are a lot of scenes with Indy struggling to take down an enemy. He struggles a lot. But when he finally gets that guy down it feels amazing. For example the truck scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark. But Christian Wolff doesn't struggle a lot. With an action protagonist it can be a lot more riveting to watch them struggle. I thought Christian Wolff was a bit too on top of things.

So overall I enjoyed The Accountant. It's well made for the most part. I thought it could have been better and it could have had more action. But I had a fun time. I don't think this is a movie you need to rush out and see but I recommend checking it out.
