  • This is a NON-Spoiler review for Sing.

  • Plot Summary: "Dapper Koala Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey) presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. An eternal optimist, and a bit of a scoundrel, he loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Facing the crumbling of his life's ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing a singing competition. Five contestants emerge - a mouse (Seth McFarlane), a timid elephant (Tori Kelly), a pig (Reese Witherspoon), a gorilla (Taron Egerton), and a punk-rock porcupine (Scarlet Johansson)."

  • I'm gonna be honest this movie really bored me. I didn't hate it. There wasn't anything that I hated about it. It just wasn't any good. It wasn't very funny. There were a few jokes that I laughed at. It's a pretty forgettable story as well. It doesn't feel like a competition at all. It doesn't really have a main character, which reminded me of Star Wars: Episode I. Without a main character it makes it hard to care about anyone and it's just scattered. And there are characters that are good enough to be the protagonist. Matthew McConaughey's character had a good story going with him and his father and his love for the theater.

  • So say the story wasn't that great "We're just here to laugh and have fun." Well, it's not that funny to me at least. I'm not going to be able to tell if you and your kids are gonna find this funny but I definitely didn't. Most of the jokes that were a little bit funny are all in the trailer. And there was one joke that went on for almost the whole movie that really got old. There is one character that I liked and that's Seth McFarlane as an arrogant saxophone player mouse. His character made me laugh a couple times.

  • So overall I don't really recommend Sing. I was really waiting for this movie to end. It's filled with annoying modern music like Shake It Off and Call Me Maybe. I'm so sick of hearing Queen's "Under Pressure" in movies! It's rarely funny and it's a boring story. There are some good messages about your dreams and fear and working your way up but it's probably just gonna go over kids heads. But overall Sing is pretty forgettable. I think that if your family is just starving to see a movie that you might think it's okay. The grade for Sing is a C. Today I saw Sing, Jackie and Collateral Beauty. So expect reviews for those tomorrow.
