  • This is a NON-Spoiler review for Logan Lucky. Never thought I would see James Bond with a redneck accent.

  • Plot Summary: "West Virginia family man Jimmy Logan teams up with his one-armed brother Clyde and sister Mellie to steal money from the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. Jimmy also recruits demolition expert Joe Bang to help them break into the track's underground system. Complications arise when a mix-up forces the crew to pull off the heist during a popular NASCAR race while also trying to dodge a relentless FBI agent."

  • I enjoyed Logan Lucky. I don't think it's a movie you can't miss. To be honest I kinda found the heist boring. Pretty much all the characters are southern. So the comedy is funny even when it's unintentional. I thought this movie felt more like a soft comedy and it was trying to cram in as many stars as they could just so they could sell tickets. I have absolutely no idea why Katherine Waterston, Seth McFarlane, Sebastian Stan, or Hilary Swank are in this movie other than to help make this another Ocean's movie. It's no Power Rangers but get ready for some product placement. I found the editing and cinematography to be really strange at times.

  • I thought a lot of the writing was good and pretty funny. The writing problem I have with the movie is that the crime felt lazy to me. A lot of scenes felt very very stretched out or completely unnecessary to help the runtime. And sometimes that stretching out makes for some good comedy, but other than that it was pretty annoying. And there was a lot of scenes between the characters that didn't feel important at all. We have a scene that takes us away from the crime story so that Sebastian Stan's character can talk about his workout routine. And that scene has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the movie other than to give Sebastian Stan something to do. There's even a conversation about Game of Thrones to get all the fans (which I am not) laughing when we could just be having fun with a good robbery.

  • The main cast is awesome. Channing Tatum is great. Adam Driver was great and was very funny when I don't think he was trying to be. Daniel Craig is amazing in this movie. Daniel Craig as Joe Bang is the most entertaining part of the whole movie. I saw no James Bond. All of the actor's accents made me laugh pretty hard. Everybody else pretty much falls into the "I'm here so this movie can have a giant cast" list. Seth McFarlane was funny but doesn't need to be there. Katherine Waterston was in the movie for literally two unnecessary scenes. Sebastian Stan had no reason AT ALL to be in the movie. I don't think there's a shot of him longer than 5 seconds. I thought Hilary Swank didn't need to be there and I felt that she was over doing her role quite a bit. Katie Holmes didn't need to be here either and she sucked as bad as she did in Batman Begins.

  • Logan Lucky is a heist movie and I didn't really care about the heist. I honestly forgot for most of the movie what the motivation was to steal the money. It's supposed to be Channing Tatum and his daughter that's supposed to make you care about the heist (which feels cliche) but it fails at doing that. There are a couple of sweet father daughter moments but it's not until it's way way way too late in the movie. And I felt like there wasn't very much focus on the robbery either. I didn't feel any urgency or a goal the characters had. What makes a heist movie good is that we want to see the characters succeed and because the heist is clever. And this one's okay for that. So I feel like the director was wanting to make some jokes and work with his actors more than he wanted to make a good crime movie.

  • I don't mean to make this movie sound worse than it is. It's not a bad movie. There are some very funny scenes and some clever heist scenes. And the main cast is great. But nothing in the movie made me care if they characters went to jail or not. So if you were interested in seeing this movie or if you like heist movies, I think you should give this one a shot and see for yourself. Otherwise, I think you can just wait for this movie to come out on Netflix. My grade for Logan Lucky is a B-
