This is a NON-Spoiler review for Justice League.
Plot Summary: "Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions."
This new DC universe has been hit or miss for me. So I wasn't very excited about Justice League. I went in interested, but still skeptical. I enjoyed Justice League. I think Justice League is a very sloppy movie with characters that I had fun watching. I really liked watching Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Aquaman interacting. I think that you can kind of mark this movie as the moment when Warner Bros. decided to halt all the projects and change it into whatever they're trying to do now. Justice League immediately felt like a different style. It didn't open with a lot of angry news anchors and dark imagery. It felt very much like they were trying to do something different here. It felt a little bit more like a comic or a cartoon, but not in a bad way. There was even a scene that's in the trailer with cartoonish bank robbers with gangster hats.
One of the biggest problems I had with Justice League is how CG everything looks. It's in the ballpark of the Star Wars prequels. Some shots look like they could have been pulled from the Injustice video game. To go from how Patty Jenkins directed Themyscira in Wonder Woman, to how Zack Snyder directed Themyscira is regurgitation worthy. Themyscira looked like trash. Which that brings us to the villain, who is also extremely CGI. Steppenwolf is literally every superhero villain you have ever seen. This is the worst superhero villain since Suicide Squad. This movie's villain is a guy with horns and a stick, with space mosquitos as henchmen, looking for Infinity Stones.......I mean Mother Boxes (Whatever those are).

It feels like a lot of scenes have been cut. Which people have been making jokes about. To me, this screwed a lot of stuff up. For example, the introduction to Aquaman and Cyborg both felt really fast and chopped down. I thought the writing was hit and miss. I also had some problems with the pacing and the structure. And definitely the comedy. This is where I feel like DC is influenced (don't wanna make the fanboys angry) a bit too much by Marvel. Because there is definitely more comedy. And the comedy felt a little lazy to me and a bit out of place at times. And I was disappointed in Danny Elfman's score even with the Wonder Woman. Batman, and Superman theme. I definitely think that Danny Elfman could have done a lot more if he had more time or even a different director.
I really liked that the Justice League was formed because these characters are trying to survive without Superman. I thought it was a really cool idea of seeing a world trying to move on after the death of Superman. After a while of people talking about Superman, you really start to miss Henry Cavill's face. So let's talk about The Avengers.....I mean the Justice League (Sorry fanboys). Ben Affleck is my favorite actor as Batman. I really like Jeremy Irons as Alfred as well. Ben Affleck's movies have definitely not been nearly as good as Christian Bale's. But Ben Affleck is my favorite actor portraying Batman. Here's my message to Ben Affleck - dude......if you're gonna leave, THEN LEAVE! Stop talking about maybe or maybe not leaving for the next 10 years. Either stay or go already! But anyway, I was a bit let down by the Batman action. It definitely felt like this was a Joss Whedon version of Batman and I really didn't love it. Because I loved the movie Wonder Woman, I got excited when she showed up. I really enjoy watching this character. I think that Gal Gadot gets better as an actress every time she plays her. I think she's definitely proven herself in this role.
I really liked watching Aquaman being a rockstar that surfs on all the space mosquitos. I enjoyed Aquaman even though I don't really know a lot about him. I don't really care for Cyborg. I REALLY REALLY liked Ezra Miller's The Flash. Speedsters are always super cool to me. If I could pick any super power it would be super speed. He was very fun to watch and he was probably my favorite part of the entire movie. This brings me to a big problem I have with the movie, all three of them were very similar to Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman. I have preferred DC's solo movies A LOT more to their team up movies. This is the one thing that they should have stolen from Marvel. Let me get to know and love these characters first. I love Wonder Woman now because Patty Jenkins showed me who she was in her own film. I don't know anything about Aquaman or Cyborg because they haven't had their own movies and this movie gives me barely anything about them. And they don't really develop at all here. They're basically just walking trailers for their own movies. I DON'T KNOW WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE IF YOU DON'T TELL ME!
To me, the best parts of Justice League are the league interacting. This movie really felt like there was a good writer and a bad writer each getting different scenes. But when the good writer gets to work, it's really great. There's one scene that has Batman and Wonder Woman arguing that was very very well written and stood out a lot to me. So I liked the writing for the interactions even though these characters really didn't grow much at all. So I enjoyed this movie. I think it's a passable movie that will only be remembered because of the characters. I'm excited to see where this universe goes now with the solo movies and the better directors like Matt Reeves that are coming on. But unfortunately, I think that this is one you can definitely see at home for $4. There are fans that have been waiting their whole lives to see Justice League on screen, give them something better Warner Bros.......SERIOUSLY! If you see Justice League, there are two post-credits scenes. My grade for Justice League is a C+
