If you know me you know that I love Marvel movies. Before I saw this movie I was anticipating it big time. I wasn't even thinking of it as a Marvel movie. I was expecting the new Inception.

Before you decide if you want to see this movie or not know that I really really enjoyed this movie. It was a lot of fun. I want to see it again. I definitely recommend this movie. I loved Benedict Cumberbatch as this character. He's a sassy and arrogant scientist who disagrees with everything that's happening which I thought was perfect. Benedict brought a lot to this character. There are scene's when he genuinely made me feel really bad for him. All the actors are great. Both Tilda Swinton and Mads Mikkelsen were really good, I loved their characters. Something that annoys a lot of people about Marvel, is that they always throw jokes in on serious moments. I used to disagree but last night, I kinda see what they're talking about. There's one scene where Benedict Cumberbatch is pulling off a great scene and then it becomes a joke. Don't get me wrong I love Marvel's humor. But I do understand how it can get a bit annoying when you want to really get into a moment. And I think that the villain played by Mads Mikkelsen was great and intimidating but he could have been a bit stronger of a character. We could have explored his motivation a little bit more. So those are two small complaints. The visual effects in this movie were absolutely incredible which I was expecting with all the reality bending. GO SEE THIS MOVIE IN IMAX 3D. It would be absolutely absurd If this movie doesn't win the Oscar for best visual effects.

What this movie is, is an introduction to a great character with reality bending fun. It's the first movie with Dr. Stephen Strange so Marvel is going to take their time in letting us get to know him. I totally agree with that. I wouldn't change the movie. But take Ant-Man for example. The trailers for that movie advertised an introduction to a great character. But the trailers for Doctor Strange made us think we were getting the new Inception with all the insane reality bending action. It's just that I was expecting a remarkable new movie. I was expecting the new Inception. I wanted it to be on that level. But I really feel the need to set everyone's expectations in the right place. I thought this could end up being one of my favorite movies ever. But I blame the trailers for my expectations. Please don't get me wrong. Overall it's a really great movie and I really really enjoyed it but it just didn't live up to my personal expectations. If you weren't anticipating this movie big time like I was you will LOVE this movie. And I know I will love it the next time I see it. But I definitely recommend this movie for this weekend. I can't wait to see what they do with this character in the future. Definitely don't miss this movie and definitely stick around after the credits because there are two post-credit scenes worth watching.
