  • This is a NON-Spoiler review for Despicable Me.

  • Plot Summary: "The mischievous Minions hope that Gru will return to a life of crime after the new boss of the Anti-Villain League fires him. Instead, Gru decides to remain retired and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother for the first time. The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Balthazar Bratt, a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world."

  • I really really enjoy the Despicable Me movies. The first one is very funny and enjoyable. It's a movie about a villain who wants to steal the freaking moon! And then there are the minions. What's not to like? The second one is absolutely the funniest, but I really don't like the story. I don't love that they made Gru join the anti-villain league instead of being a monument stealing villain. And Lucy played by Kristen Wiig really annoys me. And sadly I think the third one is my least favorite of the trilogy. The Minion movie doesn't exist.

  • The villain, that we all saw in the trailer, is named Balthazar Bratt. The trailer showed as a guy who is straight out of the 80's. He wears shoulder pads, moonwalks on water, and listens to Michael Jackson. Almost everything that wasn't in the trailer I didn't like that much. He has the catchphrase that got on my nerves and a giant robot. You may like him. But for me, other than the 80's comedy, I didn't really like the character.

  • As for the story, it's okay. It's a little boring. I was excited that Gru was the villain again. But he's kinda a villain again. He gets fired from the anti-villain league, and he has to do one heist so he can get his job back. I wanted the character Gru to be a kinda bad person again. Kinda strange that it's still called Despicable Me. There are a couple of subplots in the movie. It's like we cut to a commercial break from the main story to watch Agnes trying to find a unicorn. Which keeps the movie fast paced and entertaining but I don't think it was necessary.

  • Why do we go to see the Despicable Me movies? To laugh. We go to watch a funny cartoon. I think the biggest flaw with the movie is that the humor is a lot lazier. It's funny. But it's the least funny of the trilogy. I laughed so hard in at the minion chaos from the second movie. In this one, they aren't even apart of the main adventure. The most fun parts were the minions, and Dru and Gru's relationship. As soon as Gru meets his twin it gets really fun.

  • So overall Despicable Me 3 was a bit of a letdown but still enjoyable. There's no doubt that this is still a fun movie. It still has Gru and the minions. I definitely recommend this for families because it's pretty quick paced and a fun movie. Or you can look into seeing Spider-Man: Homecoming which was fantastic. My grade for Despicable Me 3 is a B-
