  • This is a NON-Spoiler review for Arrival.

  • Plot Summary: "Linguistics professor Louise Banks (Amy Adams) leads a team of investigators when spaceships touchdown in 12 locations around the world. Banks and her crew must find a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors."

  • Wow! I've seen two incredible movies back to back. I loved the crap out of Arrival. Arrival was fantastic - one of the top 5 alien movies I've ever seen. I think the thing that makes this movie special is that it is the most realistic-feeling alien movie I've ever seen. The directing along with the score made me feel what I actually would feel if I encountered aliens. Some scenes were really intense. There were scenes that gave me a stomach ache because they felt so real and intense. Not just actually meeting the aliens but what would happen around me in life if they came to earth. In the words of Will Smith - "Now that's what I call a close encounter." The cinematography is really great. The cinematographer of Arrival is going to do the new Han Solo movie.

  • This movie is made extremely well by Denis Villeneuve. He made the movie feel very grounded and human when it's a global story. Denis Villeneuve grabbed me and got me invested so fast. I'm very excited to see how Denis Villeneuve directs the new Blade Runner. Denis Villeneuve was able to amaze you by things you see all the time in movies. There were moments that I remembered from the trailer but I still got excited when I knew they were coming. I'm telling you that this is one of the best-made movies I've seen in a long time. The acting is great. Amy Adams give the best performance I've even seen from her. She might win best actress at the Oscars this year. I thought Jeremy Renner was kinda just Jeremy Renner. He's supposed to be this nerdy language studying guy but I didn't really buy him as a super smart nerd.

  • I loved the writing in this movie. There wasn't one bad line and it conveyed information very well, I thought. I was intrigued and loved the story of learning the alien language. I loved the kinda beautiful relationship between Amy Adams and the aliens. But there are things that I can't talk about without spoiling that are going to blow your mind. Truly terrifying and mind blowing movie. I'm gonna give Arrival a really really high A. I want to give it an A+. But there are some things that I would have liked to be different that I can't talk about without spoiling. But if you haven't seen it yet, I beg you to see it. So now I'm gonna get into some spoilers that I would love for you to come back and read.

  • SPOILERS BELOW! So there were two things that I would have liked to happen in this movie. I would have liked to know more of how Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner figured out the language other than just - she's smart. And I wasn't a huge fan of the ending. The fact that Amy Adams can see into the future blew my mind. I absolutely loved that story. But I felt like the way it ended was a bit too happy and perfect. You may be thinking that it's not a happy ending at all. I know that she knows that her life is going to suck in the future. But I wanted more of a dark ending for the aliens and the world and not necessarily a dark ending for the characters. If it would have been darker I think that it could have been more impactful. I think the ending could have been better so that's why I gave it an A. But don't get me wrong most of this movie is A+ material. I loved this movie so much.
